Quintessential Chester at Christmas
Chester standing on the River Dee, offers the quintessential location for a traditional Christmas combined with a magical heritage, historic treasures and wonderful architecture, all set within the sophisticated city. Explore the magnificent Cathedral along with some 2000 years of history is this ancient ‘walled’ city and be captivated by its character. For history buffs, you can walk right around the city on Roman walls that are still intact noting the many sights and architecture. For shoppers you will be delighted by the gallery of shops situated amongst the unique two-tiered black and white ‘Rows’ which date back from the Middle Ages! See the ornately decorated Eastgate Clock sitting proudly above the city.
Day 1 Departure: 0800 – 0900 hrs. Travel to Chester, making a comfort stop en-route. Hotel check-in with a glass of spiced, winter mulled wine and partake in tea and homemade cake. Drinks reception, official welcome and 3-course dinner, followed by organised fun and games with the resident entertainment team.
Day 2 After breakfast, visit Llandudno. Discover one of Britain’s finest Victorian seaside resorts, retaining much of its Victorian and Edwardian elegance and grand architecture. Take the scenic journey by a vintage tram (extra cost), rich in history, to climb through to the impressive Great Orme – a spectacular limestone headland which rises to a height of 200m enjoying sweeping, panoramic views of lovely Llandudno and beyond. Later enjoy a Cheshire themed dinner alongside Christmas carol favourites, followed by live entertainment. For those who wish to attend midnight mass, hotel staff will give information on this.
Day 3 Merry Christmas to you all! Following breakfast, why not challenge yourself with the annual treasure hunt? Indulge in a 5-course Christmas Day lunch with coffee and mince pies served in time for the Queen’s speech at 3pm. Relax, play games or take a snooze during the afternoon. For dinner a traditional yuletide buffet of festive favourites is served. The night comes to a pleasant end with sing-along DJs and dancing.
Day 4 Free time taking in the sights of Chester or take advantage of the Boxing Day sales. Return to the hotel for an early buffet lunch. In the afternoon we visit a Pantomime - location to be advised. During the evening enjoy a farewell gala dinner, followed by live entertainment. Day 5 After breakfast, begin the journey home, making a lunch stop en-route (extra cost). Arrive home: mid afternoon.
