Lying between Cumbria and Northumberland is the small village of Gilsland, close to Hadrian’s Wall and the scene of many historic conflicts. The Cumbrian countryside stretches as far as the eye can see, awash with pretty villages, shimmering lakes and magnificent mountains which makes the area an outdoor paradise. Lots of wildlife and scenic walks within beautiful parks and woodlands can be found near to the ever popular Gilsland Hall Hotel, renowned for its entertainment programme.

Day 1 Departure: 0800-0900 hrs. Travel to Gilsland, making a comfort stop en-route. Hotel check-in. Dinner is included for the next 4 nights.
Days 2 – 4 Tours to such places as:
Carlisle – a city of impressive history. Sights such as Hadrian’s Wall in some parts of the city, the cathedral, and the magnificent medieval castle are clear reminders of its grand past. Today, English Street and The Lanes are a historic setting for independent shops and boutiques.
Durham is compact enough to enjoy the Prince Bishops Shopping Centre as well as the city’s boutiques and
independent shops which line the cobbled streets. Explore the endless number of attractions and landmarks, such as the iconic Durham Cathedral or Durham Castle.
Drive via Hadrian’s Wall, an internationally celebrated world heritage site to Otterburn, a small village which welcomes visitors due to its natural beauty within the Northumberland National Park.
Hexham – regarded as ‘The Capital of Tynedale’, offers historic buildings galore, such as the 7th Century Abbey and the old Gaol (the oldest purpose-built jail in England).
Day 5 Depart after breakfast, making a comfort stop en-route. Arrive home: late afternoon.

The Gilsland Spa Hotel, Gilsland
The hotel sits 700 feet above sea level, with wonderful views across the valley, just over one mile from the pretty village of Gilsland. Set in 140 acres of park and woodland, there are many scenic walks to be found. The hotel also boasts its own bowling green, putting green and Croquet lawn and is renowned for its entertainment programme.
Bedrooms: En-suite (shower over bath) with TV, tea/coffee making facilities and telephone.
