The 1940’s weekend is one of the finest in the country, a fantastic event where many visitors enter the spirit and dress in costume to reflect a time gone by. Based in Harrogate, an elegant spa town with a glamorous heritage.
Day 1 Departure: 0700 – 0800 hrs. Travel to Harrogate. Free time to explore. Set within stunning architecture and handsome treelined avenues, it offers a wealth of charming attractions with fabulous boutiques, craft shops, and antique dealers. Be tempted to visit the tea rooms that Harrogate is renowned for, including the famous Betty’s Tea Rooms, or take a leisurely stroll through 200 acres of beautiful grassland known as The Stray.
Day 2 Depart after breakfast. Visit Haworth and their 1940’s themed weekend. Enjoy nostalgia from the 1940’s and join in the spirit of the era. The highly anticipated event usually involves vintage vehicle displays, an evacuees event, re-enactments, speeches from Sir Winston Churchill, with singing and bands playing to echo the atmosphere of the forties. Each year there is a different wartime theme.Throughout the quintessentially Yorkshire village and cobbled Main Street, a range of fun-filled events will be tak ing place. Arrive home: mid-evening.
