The Delights of Amsterdam and Dutch Bulbfields Cruise
Embark on a charming cruise aboard MS Arena along the picturesque Dutch waterways and witness the breathtaking blanket of colour that is the Keukenhof Gardens. The world’s largest flower garden, Keukenhof is home to more than seven million tulips, daffodils and hyacinths; a magical sight to be seen when in full bloom. As well as wandering through multicoloured flower gardens, you’ll get plenty of free time to explore the harbour town of Hoorn, the historic town of Den Helder and the beautiful city of Amsterdam, with its stunning architecture and never-ending network of canals.
Day 1 UK – Amsterdam
Departure 0400/0500 hrs. Travel to Amsterdam, capital of the Netherlands, and enjoy a relaxing evening onboard the ship.
Day 2 Amsterdam – Hoorn – Den Helder
This morning you sail to the atmospheric city of Hoorn, arriving around lunchtime. Here you have free time to explore this wonderful little city full of history and interesting architecture. Alternatively, you can join an optional excursion to the Medemblik Bakery, a quaint two storey museum where you’ll see how traditional Dutch specialities are made, including ‘gevulde koek’, which is an almond paste cookie and ‘speculaas’ which are delicious gingerbread cookies. Return to the ship for a relaxing dinner onboard and sail overnight to Den Helder.
Day 3 Den Helder – Harlingen - Lelystad
Arrive in the unique town of Den Helder this morning which is situated at the northernmost tip of the province of North Holland. The town has a lot to offer, with beautiful nature reserves and is home to the country’s naval base and museum. There’s free time this morning to explore this historic town, which was bombed during World War II. Return to the ship for lunch before you continue on to the city of Harlingen, where you can explore at leisure and discover this beautiful city on the water. There are over 600 monuments which outline this harbour city and part of the original defences can still be seen in the original canals and old warehouses. Relax onboard this evening as you sail overnight to Lelystad.
Day 4 Lelystad – Amsterdam
Arrive this morning into the lively little port of Lelystad for your included excursion to Keukenhof Gardens. Here you have plenty of time to explore the 32-hectare site and enjoy the swathes of flowers, themed pavilions and wonderful atmosphere that surrounds this world-class event. Rejoin our ship in Amsterdam where you can experience the true beauty of this capital city on an optional evening canal cruise, which takes you around the 17th century buildings and picturesque little bridges while you enjoy cheese and wine – it’s a must for all visitors.
Day 5 Amsterdam – UK
This morning bid farewell to your captain and crew and disembark for the return journey to the UK.

Each Main Deck cabin benefits from floor to ceiling windows with a French balcony. All cabins also feature twin beds - one fixed bed and one fold down bed, an en suite shower and toilet, air conditioning, TV, telephone, hairdryer and a safe.
Main Deck Superior Cabin | from £729 per person
The Main Deck Superior cabins also feature floor to ceiling windows and a French balcony for excellent views of the river. There’s plenty of room for all your belongings and each cabin features comfortable hotel-style beds, an en suite shower and toilet, air conditioning, TV, telephone, hairdryer and a safe.
Upper Deck Superior Cabin | from £799 per person
Each stylish Upper Deck cabin features floor to ceiling windows with a French balcony, perfect for enjoying the passing scenery. The cabins also feature comfortable hotel-style beds, an en suite shower and toilet, plus air conditioning, TV, telephone, hairdryer and a safe all come as standard. There’s ample room to make yourself at home, so you can open the doors and feel the gentle breeze as you sail through the waters.
