Holkham Hall – Monday 5th June
Head to one of North Norfolk’s most beautiful estates, located on the coast at Wells next the Sea and home of the Coke family and the Earl and Countess of Leicester. Characterised by a distinct Palladian style, its impressive past in echoed in the elegant Marble Hall, State Rooms and the vast old kitchen. The mansion is still very much a family home. You can also explore the new exhibition ‘What the Butler Saw’, which will delve into the fascinating archives to tell the colourful stories of the people who lived and worked here – those who have helped to keep the great house running over the last 200 years.

Sudeley Castle and Gardens – Thursday 8th June
Located in the heart of the Cotswolds, Sudeley Castle will capture your imagination with history dating back to the 1400s and nine magnificent gardens swept around the castle. Once home to Queen Katherine Parr, the last of Henry VIII’s six wives, it is thought to be the only private castle in England where a queen is buried within its grounds.

Sissinghurst Gardens – Saturday 17th June
Sissinghurst Castle is renowned for its world-famous garden. Vita Sackville-West and Harold Nicolson transformed the garden in the 1930s around the surviving parts of the Elizabethan mansion, and are of huge importance in English garden design. Here you can amble through one of the country’s most romantic gardens, which enjoys colour throughout the season.

Day Trips to RHS Flower Shows

The history of the Royal Horticultural Society dates back to the 1800s and is best-known as the country’s leading gardening charity. With several gardens to its name, most famous of all are its annual flower shows which promote horticulture around the country. Each with their own distinct character, they are an unmissable experience for gardening enthusiasts or newcomers alike.

Most prestigious of them all is Chelsea Flower Show, held in the grounds of the Royal Chelsea Hospital every year since 1913, apart from gaps during the two World Wars. Get your hands on tickets by joining us on our day trip – thousands visit from all across the globe, often including members of the Royal Family. Be inspired by the very best in garden design, with diverse themes in the Show Gardens, fresh contemporary gardens, the Artisan gardens and plenty more.

The RHS Flower Show Tatton Park has developed a reputation in recent years too, for highlighting innovative and cutting edge design. In the height of summer world class garden design is showcased within the generous parklands of Tatton Park in Cheshire. Highlights this year include a brand new Bus Stop Boulevard, where numerous bus stops will be covered in plants and designed by local communities. There will be an explosion of colour in the Floral Marquee and more inspiring gardens, from Back to Back Gardens to classic Show Gardens. Billed as the biggest garden party in the North, it promises a laid-back, friendly atmosphere.

A day out to the coast may be all you need for a short escape, and our day trips coming up soon have something for everyone. Take your pick from exploring a nostalgic seaside resort like Scarborough, heading to a cultural Kent seaside town or enjoying one of the finest parts of the Norfolk coastline…

Scarborough – Monday 8th May 2017
For a touch of nostalgia, Yorkshire’s traditional seaside town has it all. Scarborough is reputed to be one of the world’s first seaside resorts, with a sweep of Victorian buildings along the promenade providing a backdrop to the award-winning sandy beaches. Boasting plenty of attractions appealing to visitors young and old, from traditional amusement arcades to the historic castle, Scarborough paints a picture of a perfect family-orientated town.

Whitstable – Thursday 18th May 2017
Sitting on the Kent coast, Whitstable is one of the most artistic seaside towns. With a distinct character and relaxing atmosphere, it is famous for its vast shingle beach and seafood eateries. The endearing harbour is a good place to simply sit and watch the world go by, or take a stroll around the laid-back high street and browse the art galleries, museums, independent shops, artisanal bakeries and welcoming pubs. This historic fishing town promises plenty to keep you occupied or to simply relax.

Wells next the Sea – Tuesday 30th May 2017
The pretty North Norfolk town of Wells-next-the-Sea has been enjoying the revival of the British seaside over recent years. A major draw for visitors is the generous, flat sandy beach edged with a plethora of colourful beach huts. Further inland gorgeous Georgian houses imbue the town with a sophisticated elegance reminiscent of a bygone age. From several quaint shops and traditional pubs to a gentle harbour, Wells has a lot to offer.
