NEW for 2017! Dinosaurs in the Wild

Opening for the summer at the NEC this week is its new £12 million attraction, Dinosaurs in the Wild. Offering an immersive adventure for all the family to experience living dinosaurs, take a day trip back in time with our visit on Sunday 30th July.

Leave the 21st century and travel back to 67 million years ago for an ultimate voyage of discovery. Combining the very latest scientific research, the show will use cutting edge 3D effects, animatronics, sound, and lighting to guide you across a prehistoric landscape to a ground-breaking research station. It’s the very first time that the public will see realistic representations of just how the prehistoric world and the awe-inspiring animals looked.

During the 70-minute experience, you will marvel at scientist’s laboratories, see incredible sights like young dinosaurs in cages, and ride across Cretaceous plains through herds of huge dinosaurs.

NEW for 2017! Extra dates for ‘Diana: Her Fashion Story’ at Kensington Palace

There’s never been a better time to visit Kensington Palace, with 2017 honouring the 20th anniversary of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales marked by celebration of some of her most beautiful outfits. Our day trip is an unmissable opportunity to get a closer look at the ‘people’s princess’s’ chic outfits and discover the evolution of her image and style.

You’ll explore the historic royal abode which was a place of unique significance in her life; the place she called home from 1981 and today the home of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, and view the celebrated outfits from throughout her life which will be on display.

Highlights of the visit include the glamorous evening gowns worn on engagements in the 1980s and the chic suits that made up her ‘working wardrobe’ in the 1990s, the pale pink Emanuel blouse worn for her engagement portrait by Lord Snowdon in 1981 and Victor Edelstein’s iconic ink blue velvet gown, famously worn at the White House.

Other attractions at Kensington Palace include the Queen’s State Apartments where you can explore these cosy, private rooms that were once used by Queen Mary II for relaxation, and The King’s State Apartments, a sumptuous set of rooms each grander than the last, and the Palace Gardens are an intimate, tranquil and secluded oasis where the highlight is the Sunken Garden.

Railway Day Trips

Railway Day Trips

There’s nothing quite like a nostalgic train journey as you’re whisked through some of the country’s most exquisite rolling countryside, past picturesque villages, sleepy unseen corners or mountainous landscapes. Whether you’re a railway enthusiast or simply want a day trip covering beautiful parts of the UK, you can take your pick from traversing to the rooftop of Wales, to a steam train journey on the North York Moors Railway…

Nene Valley Railway and Peterborough Garden Park – Wednesday 14th June
Why not step back in time for a return trip from Wansford Station. Running for 7.5 miles through the 500-acre Ferry Meadows Country Park into Peterborough and return, it’s a living heritage railway tended by volunteers to offer a place to learn about the railway’s history and see the picturesque surroundings of the Nene Valley area. We also visit Peterborough Garden Park, home to garden and lifestyle shopping. Van Hage, the premier garden centre, is also located here and boasts innovative products and complementary lifestyle departments.

Snowdon Mountain Railway – Wednesday 28th June
For a unique journey, experience the only cog railway in the country. Reputed to be a journey of a lifetime and boasting majestic views you’re unlikely to forget, this train journey to the summit of Snowdon is operated by a traditional diesel service aboard a contemporary carriage. There will be a stop of 30 minutes where the award-winning Snowdon Summit Visitors Centre is located before returning to Llanberis station. Please note that as the weather on Snowdon is very unpredictable and can change very quickly, trains cannot proceed all the way to the summit if weather conditions become severe. In such cases trains will terminate at Rocky Valley which is 5/8th of the way up Snowdon.

Pickering and The North York Moors Railway – Sunday 2nd July
How about a steam train journey on the famous North York Moors Railway, one of the world’s greatest heritage railway experiences? After exploring the historic market town of Pickering, home to plenty of independent shops and tea rooms, travel on a steam train journey from here to Grosmont, evoking memories of a bygone era through exhilarating countryside.
