Reasons to visit the UK’s City of Culture 2017

As you may already know, the Yorkshire city of Hull has been officially celebrating with cultural events after winning the title as the UK’s City of Culture 2017. Over the years the city has gone from strength to strength, and now more so than ever there’s plenty to see and do – maybe it’s got you thinking about visiting the vibrant city for yourself and joining the millions who have explored the city this year. Here are just a few of the things to do in Hull… 

  • Hull Old Town

Delve into the heart of Hull’s old town – the city’s medieval heart. Beautiful architecture and cobbled streets are steeped in history, and is where you’ll find atmospheric real ale public houses and Hull Minster. 

  • Indulge in some retail therapy

From small independent boutiques and shops to large shopping centres, Hull has something for everyone. North Point Shopping Centre is the one of the biggest shopping centres in the city, Princes Quay offer both high street giants and one-off, independent shops, whilst locally loved Hepworth Arcade is a Grade II arcade in the Old Town.

  • Spend time browsing the free museums or top attractions

Hull is home to plenty of attractions to keep you occupied. Perhaps discover the eclectic Museum Quarter, a dynamic area home to an abundance of free museums. Discover those celebrating its maritime history, or one of the many galleries. Other top attractions include The Deep, one of the most spectacular aquariums in the world housed in a futuristic aluminium building.
